David Charles “Charlie” Randall, son of Patricia (nee Toddy) and Edward David Randall. Brother to Annie (Matt Savage) and Megan. Grandson of Anne Randall and Edward Randall (dec.), and the late Clay and Faye Toddy. Nephew of Gregory and Joann Randall, Kate Schlagbaum, Tony Schlagbaum, Matt and Krista Toddy, Paul and Barb Toddy, David Toddy, Mary Toddy, Marilyn and Chris Noe, Nancy and Chris Blatchford, Chip and Gina Toddy, and Larry Toddy (dec.). Beloved by numerous Randall/Schlagbaum/Toddy cousins with whom he grew up and adored. Charlie’s goodness and passion ran deep. Geographically it was simple: Lake Lucerne, the Outer Banks, and Michigan stadium. But his loving ability cast the widest spectrum. Never a negative statement about anyone—interested in strangers—as well as friends. Charlie always reached out with a smile, a hello in his soft voice to young and old. He was a listener, asked questions, was curious and his many friends and close cousins told us over and over “he was the nicest person I know”. The celebration of his life happened spontaneously on the Lake Lucerne beach continuing for five days following his sudden passing on September 15. With the multitude of messages and cards during his memorial, a mantra was formed by his friends’ “LIVE & LOVE LIKE CHARLIE”. We offer our love and gratitude to all who came to pay their respects. Our family will be lifted up for a lifetime by the power of his incredible heart and smile. A private service for family will be held later. Those wishing to donate in Charlie’s memory, the family asks that you support a non-profit providing positive experiences for inner-city children …HANDS UP CLEVELAND. Charlie was a dedicated and loved volunteer with its precursor— helping his contemporaries with special needs in Bainbridge.
