DONALD JOSEPH MICHALEK, age 80, of Newbury, OH and Wellington FL, passed away Thursday, July 2,  2020 at University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center.  He was born in St. Clairsville, OH and lived most of his life in Northeast Ohio while spending his winters in Florida.  He was the beloved husband of Susan Hann Michalek for over 25 years.

Survivors include his daughters, Lisa (Todd) Jaros of Westlake and Dana Michalek (Andy Bowman) of Louisville; son, Matt (Chantel) Michalek of Chagrin Falls; grandchildren, Amanda and Emma Jaros, Megan (James Willison), Ashley (Kyle White), Colin, Eric, Holly and Nolan Brownsberger; and Anna, Matthias and Jacob Michalek; siblings, Joan (Frank) Soeder of Atlanta, GA, Bob (Virginia) Michalek of Zephyrhills, FL, and Connie Clementson of North Olmsted; sister-in-law, Pamela Hann Pray of Chagrin Falls; and three great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jean (nee Mitchell) Michalek and his sister, June Graf.

After graduating from Belmont High School, he served in the US Army from 1958-1961.  He was a loyal friend, successful entrepreneur and business owner who enjoyed family above all.  He frequently attended his grandchildren’s events.  Known affectionately by his Maryland family as Tractor Don, he was always up for another game of bowling or laps in the go carts.  He was fond of the conversations he would have with family while giving tractor rides around his Dancing Horse Farm.  He was an accomplished golfer, boater and saltwater fisherman who enjoyed sharing his passions with those around him.  He loved to travel the world and family vacations. He had a love of driving performance cars on and off the track while sharing a fervor of dressage horses with his wife.

In remembrance of Don, a private family gathering will take place now and a celebration of life will be planned in the future.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the charity of your choice in Don’s name.
