Evelyn B Yoe

Evelyn B. Yoe, age 90, of Novelty, Ohio passed away peacefully on December 15th 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. A proud Catholic and wife to her loving husband Richard of 68 years who preceded her in death, father to Mary (Jeff) Lykens and Paul (Leanne) Yoe. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jennifer (Josh), Rebecca, Kimberly (Dillon), Hannah (Johnna), David (Lindsay). Her 10 Great grand-grandchildren: Emily, Madelyn, William, Hailey, Beau, Miles, Louis, Elliott, Owen and Wyatt. She is preceded in death by her siblings John (Pat), Francis (Jane) Dorothy (Gaetano) Russo, her parents John and Veronica Dinda and five daughters that died at birth; Veronica, Margaret, Susan, Therese and Judy.

Evelyn was born in Cleveland, Ohio and enjoyed growing up with her two brothers and sister spending time as a family while developing a strong sense of faith. One day Evelyn was hanging out at Katz Dairy Bar and fell in love at first sight. It was a handsome Marine named Richard who swept her off her feet. Her family loved listening to the story of how they met, the many letters that were sent while he was away serving in the Korean War. When he returned from the service, they married in 1954. Evelyn was the right hand woman to Richard where she was the administrative assistant and chief financial officer of their architecture firm Marathon Management. She was a wizard on the typewriter and awed her grandchildren with the speed at which she could type.

Evelyn's pride and joy in life was her family. Her and Richard had a strong marriage built on faith in God that could weather life’s ups and downs. Their faith held the glue of their ever growing family together and was passed down many generations. Her daughter, Mary Elizabeth was born in 1955 and then they lost 5 daughters soon after birth before adopting their son, Paul Michael in 1963.

Evelyn was the most kind, loyal and humble woman to walk this earth. She put God and others first always while being feisty as a pistol in the best way. Throughout her life some of her most cherished memories were playing cards, always accepting the next challenger, who she would ultimately beat in the most humble way (most of the time). She enjoyed cooking and attending garage sales where she had a very difficult time leaving without 1-25 cook books in tow. There is an entire room in her home that she and Richard designed, dedicated to her cookbooks. There are ALOT.

Another great passion Evelyn had was Cleveland Sports. She tuned in religiously to the Browns, Cavs and Indians and at the age of 90 could tell you the entire Cavs starting lineup. If it was Sunday she could be found yelling at the television questioning the Browns play calls. She enjoyed many 4th of July Family Reunions at their beautiful home and could ALWAYS be seen at the side door when you left her home waving with the most beautiful smile to ever grace this Earth. Her favorite song was Hello Again by Neil Diamond and she enjoyed playing "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and the "Marines Corps Anthem" on the organ for the love of her life.

Above all she enjoyed spending time with family. Prideful to be sharing the legacy that will be carried on for generations to come.
