Janet Fitch, 79, of South Russell, passed away peacefully at home on May 2nd, surrounded by loved ones. Janet was born in Stony Creek, CT, a small seaside town on Long Island Sound. She moved to Ohio in 1977, where she put down roots and dedicated herself to supporting her family, and maintaining her beloved home. Utilizing the green thumb she acquired from her father, she worked tirelessly in her yard and gardens. Her home was her happy place, where she could be found puttering & working outdoors nearly every day possible for 43 years. Janet was known for her spunky energy that seemed endless and her ability to find humor and joy in the simplest things. What she lacked in size, she made up for in Sisu (a term from her Finnish roots, roughly translated to unshakeable bravery, grit, and resilience). This also explains her courageous demeanor towards cancer.

Her family was her pride and joy.  She will be forever remembered by daughters Carol Fitch, Liz Fitch (Gregg), Brenda Schuster (Gary), and Judy Fitch, grandchildren Kimberley, Kaelly, Carissa, Graham, Cameron, Alexis, and great grandchildren Ellie and Alex. She was a Favorite Aunt to many. Janet also leaves behind her dear friends, the “Friday Friends”, neighbors Larry and Joyce, and countless others who were changed by knowing her. She left this world feeling loved, blessed, and grateful, after a life well-lived; albeit too soon for those who loved her.

A private family funeral will be held, followed by a service and celebration of life (date to be announced) when Covid-19 restrictions allow.
