Jerry was a tough-love disciplinarian but was also creative, innovator and prankster with family and relatives alike. He hurled and batted his way to help his Benedictine Bengals win 6-1 over Lincoln to take State Title Champs w/ a 14 year win streak in 1955. After getting married in 1960, his career started at Bedford TV & Washer in Bedford, Ohio where he raised his 4 children with Fran. He retired in 2001 from MedNet in Mentor, Ohio where he served as an Electronic Tech/Repair for electrical medical devices - as he was dubbed "Mr. Fix It". Always fixing relatives' old vacuum tube TVs. Jerry transistioned to solid state TV then working as head salesman for the Frankelite Division of Motorola based on E.9th & Rockwell Ave in downtown Cleveland.
Jerry was self-taught in lasers and computers. Especially computers as the HAM Radio Operators (Jerry K8VEN) switched over to the internet as the air waves were getting crammed. When Jerry retired, he did not retire from life as he learned to grow his own grapes and make his own wine, making the most delicious apple fritters and lemon meringue pies! He took the family fishing every Sunday after attending church on Saturday evenings from April to October when the weather was not stormy. The freezer was stocked with fish for the entire winter of Friday fish frys. He took us to amusement parks, attended family reunions & outings, weddings and NE Ohio county fairs in the summer. He will be greatly missed.
