Dave, age 93, passed away on 14 January 2024. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Dolores; his three children Diane Ulrich Lebovitz (husband Bryan), Jennifer Ulrich, and Steven Ulrich (wife Janice); 3 Grandchildren Ashley, Alexandra and Emma; and 4 Great Grandchildren Anabelle, Maxwell, Griffin, and Josephine.
Raised in Eastlake, Ohio, SFC Ulrich served the US Army Reserve from 1951-1953, completing a tour in Korea. He was an avid canoer and joyfully participated in many winter "Madhatter" canoe races on the Grand River - events usually followed by a visit to a local winery. A wonderful vocalist, Dave sang with his church choir and was active with the Willoughby Fine Arts Association, performing in multiple musical theater shows and teaching photography.
But his first love, other than Dolores, was photography. After the army, he returned home to a career as a commercial photographer and manager for General Electric at Nela Park. While rarely captured behind the camera, he created magic in front of it. Where others saw pretty scenes, he saw light and movement and color and he captured all of its majesty.
We will celebrate Dave's life on Friday January 19 at 2:00 pm at Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church, 34201 Eddy Road Willoughby Hills OH. Private interment.
