Patrick E. Ryan

Patrick E. Ryan (October 11, 1936 – February 12, 2023).  Son of James C. and Mary Gladys (Staebell) Ryan; beloved husband of 62 years to Mary C. (nee Moore) Ryan; loving father of Patrick E. (Denise) Ryan, Jr., Mary (Joseph) Hugar, Pegeen Ryan, Anne (Brian) Lessley, J. Barry (Betsy) Ryan and Joseph (Brittany) Ryan; grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather of 9; dear brother of the late Colleen (Ryan) Howland, Sister Dolores Ryan R.S.M., the late James Ryan, William Ryan, Thomas Ryan, Bernadette (Ryan) Reilly, Pauline (Ryan) Lougan, and Christine (Ryan) Smith. After honorably serving four years with the United States Air Force, Pat attended the University of Detroit. His careers encompassed aeronautical engineering, project management, and starting a new company, while authoring several patents and technical papers. Following his retirement, he worked as a tutor and substitute teacher. He was active in his home parish of Holy Angels as a leader of ArcAngels for Life and was a founding member of Empty Nesters. He was an avid baseball fan and amateur player through many decades of his life, including Solon’s “Babes of 2016”. He also loved bowling, skiing, golf, and the outdoors in general. It was often said that Pat knew no strangers, and his thirst for adventure and friendship was passed on not to just his family, but almost everyone who met him. His spirit lives on in the lives of those he touched, even if only with a complicated handshake. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, Feb 16^th at 11 A.M. at the Church of the Holy Angels, 18205 Chillicothe Rd., Chagrin Falls, OH 44023. Friends will be received at church from 10 A.M. until time of mass. Interment to be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna, NY at a later date.
