SCOTT P. KENNEY, age 76, of Aurora, Ohio, passed away on January 22, 2024, after a brief illness.   Scott is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Carol (nee McLaughlin) Kenney.  He is preceded in death by his parents Robert P. and Dorothy (nee Egan) Kenney, and his sister Noreen Kenney.  Scott was raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio apart from a two-year period spent in Europe with his family where Scott and Noreen attended the American School in Paris.  Scott graduated from Kimball Union Academy and Washington and Jefferson College.   Following Scott’s U.S. Army service in Vietnam, he completed his JD at Case Western Reserve University.  While living in Columbus, Ohio, Scott rose to the position of Chief Trial Counsel for the Ohio Public Defenders Commission, defending and consulting on death penalty defense cases throughout Ohio.  Upon returning to Cleveland, Scott completed his MBA at Case Western Reserve University.  He then joined his lifelong friend, Glenn Siegler in several business ventures.  Scott was an avid fisherman, especially tarpon fishing the Boca Grande Pass in Florida with fishing buddies, Geoff Hetrick and Keith Helfer.  Scott was featured in a 2004 article in the Tampa Tribune as well as a Darcy Egan article in the Plain Dealer for catching an unofficial 300-pound world record tarpon at Boca Grande.  Scott will be dearly missed by family and friends and especially by his rescue cats, Emmie, and Abby.  Contributions may be made in Scott’s memory to Rescue Village, 15463 Chillicothe Road, Novelty, Ohio 44072 or Tunnel To Towers, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.  Private burial.
