Susan A. Preuss

Susan A. Preuss,79, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022, with her loving family at her side. Born May 10, 1943, in East Cleveland, Ohio. She was a 1961 graduate of Heights High. After graduation, Sue attended Ohio University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Early Education. Sue furthered her education with a master’s degree from Cleveland State University.

On September 3, 1966, she married Henri C. Preuss and together they raised 4 children, Barbara, David, John, and Brian. Sue and Henri opened their home and hearts to 32 foster children over many years.

Sue was passionate about her advocacy for children and families that were underprivileged. She was very involved with both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of Geauga County. After many years with Cuyahoga County Family and Children’s Services, she retired to spend time with her loving husband, Henri. Together they volunteered and dedicated their time to Bainbridge Township and many organizations. Sue enjoyed her friendships with the Red Hat Society. She loved the theatre and her many trips to New York City to see Broadway Shows. She loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces Stacey (John) and Ruth (John). Sue and Henri enjoyed many years at their home in Florida where they made many wonderful friends and memories.  

Sue is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Henri; children, Barbara, David, and Brian (Meghan); grandchildren, Cecily, and Rylan. Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her son, John; granddaughter, Kendall and sister, Sandi.

The family would like to thank Cherished Companions and The Hospice of the Western Reserve for all their loving and compassionate care for Sue over the last few months.

Friends received at the ST. JOHN FUNERAL HOME, 16381 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (RT. 306), CHAGRIN FALLS, 44023 (2.5 MILES NORTH OF RT. 422), FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 FROM 4 – 8 P.M. followed by a Service at Valley Presbyterian Church, 17560 Chillicothe Rd., Chagrin Falls, OH 44023 on Saturday, September 10 at 10 A.M.  Burial Restland Cemetery, Bainbridge Twp. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Bainbridge Community Park Children’s Program.
