William A. Baird

William A. Baird, age 77, passed away on October 18, 2024. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Bill was a thirty-year resident of Newbury, Ohio, and lived in a house that he, Nancy, Regina, Betsy, Nancy’s brothers Ron and Joe, and many, many, many, friends help build. 

Bill was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and friend. He was an educator in the Shaker School System for 35 years, retiring in 2005. He possessed a Masters of Science Degree in Biology. Bill was an extraordinary teacher and to this day we would run across former students who would recognize “Mr. Baird” and tell him how he changed their lives. His wife and daughter’s lives were changed also. Bill made them happy, always kept them safe, and made them feel loved. He never faltered. All of his family and friends have their own memories about Bill, but all of them would agree that he was a GOOD MAN!

He was preceded in death by his father Robert Baird. Bill is survived by his wife Nancy J. Baird; his mother Anne Baird; daughter Dr. Regina Sawyer; and sister Elizabeth “Betsy” Baird Alonge and her husband Paul Alonge. 

Friends and family are welcome on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at St. John Funeral Home, 16381 Chillicothe Road, Bainbridge Township, Ohio 44023 from 4-8pm. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.

The family hopes that you can join them to say goodbye. They know there is no doubt he is still watching over all of us and you being there would make him smile.
